EXPERIENCE (Details):


i. I have been administrating Pentium-III File Server on NOVELL Netware (LOCAL AREA NETWORK SOFTWARE) at sixteen workstations as Database Administrator/Incharge Computer Section.

ii. I have developed following software for the automation/computerization of Quaid-e-Azam Library:
1· LIS Library Information System (Quaid-e-Azam Library's Books Catalogue Retrieval System) using dBase + Clipper RDBMS System
2· QAL (Quaid-e-Azam Library's Books/Periodicals/Magazines/Indexing of Periodicals Retrieval System) using dBase + Clipper RDBMS System
3· Reports Management (Asian Development Banks, UNESCO Reports Management) using CDSISIS System
4· Transaction System (Books Issue & Receipt System) using FoxPro

iii. I have processed/analyzed and managed (with every type of backup protection) a data of more than 100,000/- books records vis-a-vis Periodicals, Membership & Transactions database in the Quaid-e-Azam Library, Lahore.

iv. Have been providing On-line Reference Services through electronic library catalogue, Internet and e-mail etc. to the library readers/scholars since the inception of Computer Section since 1989.

v. I have hands on experience of Network Cabling (design & installations).

vi. I have also operated IBM PC-PS2 series on LAN Systems (IBM PC-LAN Software).

vii. I can fully install & operate different kinds of software and utility packages like Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Novell, Windows NT (workstation), etc.

viii. I can fully handle all types of CD's & CD-ROM Drives for installation or operations etc.

ix. I have a thorough knowledge about the usage of Internet & E-mail Services & protocols.

x. I have familiarity with Virus Protection aspects & regular Data management/Backup procedures.

xi. I have got necessary Hardware Maintenance Training from M/s IBM at the time of installation of Computer Hardware in the Quaid-e-Azam Library, Lahore and also from
the University Grants Commission, Govt. of Pakistan.

xii. I have successfully conducted Computer Courses on MS/PC-DOS, WordStar & Micro CDSISIS (a Package developed by UNESCO) & other Library Software's as an instructor.

xiii. Web Page Designing and maintaining QAL Internet Club for reference/retrieval services etc.

xiv. I have a good Typewriting & Shorthand speed (55/90 wpm respectively).

xv. I have good command over written and spoken English and being Incharge of the Computer Section since June 1989 I have an excellent administrative/managerial experience of the office routines. I can fully communicate and make official/business correspondence with a vast noting/drafting background.

xvi. Experienced in an integrated online academic environment to maintain the Library's database as a gateway to all forms of information to which the library has access. As head of the Database Management Unit, I have the knowledge about current standards and practices in acquisitions and cataloging, including the integration of both individual and aggregate collections of Web-based resources into the library database.




I've recently been taking computer workshops at night in an attempt to expand my skills. I now have introductory knowledge of Visual Basic, TCP/IP and Routers.
